NEW YORK — July 26, 2026 — U.S. Congressman Jim McGovern and his family joined Tibetan activists and community members outside the United Nations headquarters in New York City today to express solidarity following the self-immolation of Tibetan activist Lobga Rangzen. Standing alongside members of the Tibetan community, Representative McGovern honoured the memory of Lobga Rangzen, who set himself on fire near the UN headquarters earlier this month to demand freedom for Tibet and protest China’s newly implemented “Ethnic Unity” law. During the demonstration, Congressman McGovern reaffirmed his steadfast commitment to supporting the Tibetan cause.
