Dharamshala: A Tibetan parliamentary delegation, comprising parliamentarians Geshe Atong Rinchen Gyaltsen, Lobsang Gyatso Sither, and Tenzin Choezin, continued their advocacy efforts in Switzerland. On October 24th, the delegation met with Fabian Molina, a Member of Parliament in the National Council.
During the meeting, they expressed concerns about China’s destruction of Tibet’s distinct religion, culture, language, and the very identity of the Tibetan people, highlighting policies strategically adopted by the Chinese government to eliminate Tibetan heritage. They also discussed the situation of Tibetans in Switzerland and urged for continued support from the Swiss MP. The delegation presented him with an appeal letter signed by the Speaker of the Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile, along with a souvenir from the Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile, to express their gratitude for his longstanding support for Tibet.
Accompanying the delegation were Thinlay Chukki, representative of the Tibet Bureau in Geneva, and Phuntsok Topgyal, UN Advocacy Officer.
In the afternoon, the Tibetan delegation paid their respects at the Rikon Choekhorling monastery. Upon arrival, they were welcomed by Khenpo Geshe Tenzin Jangchup (abbot), Lama Tenzin, and administrator Peter Oberholzer, who briefed them on the monastery’s history and current programs.
Phuntsok Topgyal, UN Advocacy Officer of the Tibet Bureau in Geneva, also accompanied the delegation during the visit.
