Dharamshala, 24th December 2024: Khenpo Sonam Tenphel, Speaker of the Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile, extended his heartiest congratulations to the newly elected Chairperson MP Yamatani Eriko and General Secretary Yamada Hiroshi on their re-election as legislative members of the National Diet and on their election as new Chairperson and new General Secretary of the Japan Parliamentary Support Group for Tibet.

The Speaker wrote, “Your decision to take on this pivotal role is, in itself, a tremendous encouragement to the people of Tibet and to the global movement for justice and human rights. I am keenly aware of the challenges that lie ahead, but with your wisdom, integrity, and determination at the helm, we are confident that the cause of Tibet will be in capable and compassionate hands.”

“I have no doubt that under your guidance, the Japan Parliamentary Support Group will continue to amplify the voice of Tibet in Japan and both on the international stage to bring about meaningful impact for Tibet’s cause. I am also hopeful that the upcoming 9th World Parliamentarians’ Convention on Tibet (WPCT) will proceed smoothly and successfully under your esteemed leadership. Your involvement will not only ensure that the event achieves its goals, but also send a powerful message of solidarity to the people of Tibet and to all those who stand for justice.”
