Sujeet Kumar (born 17 November 1975) is an Indian politician of the Biju Janata Dal party and a Member of Parliament representing Odisha in the Rajya Sabha, the upper house of the Indian Parliament since April 2020. He earlier served at senior policy planning positions with the Government of Odisha – as the Advisor, in the rank of Chief Secretary, to the Special Development Council (SDC) of the Government of Odisha and Special Secretary of the Odisha State Planning Board. He is a trained engineer, lawyer and policymaker. He is a Chairman of the Committee on Petitions in the Rajya Sabha. Sujeet Kumar is one of the Co-Chairs of the Inter-Parliamentary Alliance on China (IPAC). Since December 2021, he has been serving as the Convener of the All Party Indian Parliamentary Forum for Tibet (APIPFT). He had advocated for the conferment of Bharat Ratna, India’s highest civilian award on His Holiness the Dalai Lama and had submitted a private member bill called the Tibetan Policy Bill 2022 in the Indian Parliament.
