The delegation were warmly accorded to the Parliament House by Speaker Khenpo Sonam Tenphel. Following that, they interacted with Speaker, Members of the Standing Committee and Budget Estimate Committee.

Welcoming the deputies, the Speaker extended his gratitude to the lawmakers led by Deputy Salvador Caro Cabrera for constituting a Mexican Parliamentary Support Group for Tibet “Friends of Tibet” in November 2022 and their coming all the way to Dharamsala to show their solidarity with the Tibetan cause.

He further introduced the evolution of democracy in the exiled Tibetan community, the composition of Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile, the bi-annual sessions of the TPiE, the primary objectives of the Central Tibetan Administration and many others.

Thereafter, the Mexican Deputies and Tibetan Parliamentarians had extensive discussions on varied issues of common interest, especially, the prevailing gross human rights situation inside Tibet and the critical environmental condition in Tibet.

Deputy Salvador Caro Cabrera expressed his solidarity with the Tibetans and raised his voice against the gross human rights violations in Tibet. On behalf of Mexican Friends of Tibet, he reaffirmed his commitment to continue supporting the Tibetan struggle movement.

The meet was also attended by Secretary Sonam Dorjee and Additional secretaries of Tibetan Parliament in Exile.
