Geneva: Tibet Support Groups in Europe gathered for its regional meeting held at the Tibet Open House in Prague, Czech Republic from 22 April to 24 April 2023. The meeting was hosted by International Tibet Network (ITN). Over 40 participants from more than 14 European countries took part in the meeting.
The meeting discussed and deliberated on various agenda aimed at strengthening Tibet advocacy, including a series of workshops to amplify the voices and capacity of Tibet groups in their Tibet advocacy initiatives.
During a session on Tibet Advocacy in Europe, Representative Thinlay Chukki presented an overview of the Central Tibetan Administration’s structure, the twin objectives of the administration: restoration of freedom in Tibet and rehabilitation and welfare of Tibetans-in-exile. Stressing upon the Central Tibetan Administration efforts in finding resolution for sino-Tibet conflict, Representative Thinaly also briefed CTA’s priorities in Europe, including CTA’s ongoing activities and advocacy in Europe. Other panellists of the session included expert on legal status of Tibet Michael Van Walt and Tibet Advocacy Coalition coordinator Gloria Montgomery. Participants of the meeting engaged with the panelists with high enthusiasm and raised pertinent questions.
While in Prague, Czech Republic, Representative Thinlay paid a courtesy call to the President of Czech Senate Parliamentary group for Tibet, Senator Premysl Rabas. The two discussed a range of issues, including future activities on Tibet by the parliamentary group in the Czech Republic. Representative Thinlay also held several meetings with the like minded groups.
