Dharamshala: Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile hosted a luncheon in honor of the high-level delegation from Arunachal Pradesh consisting of Shri Pema Khandu, Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh; Shri Tapir Gao, MP from Arunachal Pradesh and Co-convener of the All Party Indian Parliamentary Forum for Tibet; Shri Pasang Dorjee Sona, Minister for Education and Tourism; and Shri Zingnu Namchoom, MLA Namsai on 6th September 2024 at Choenor House, Mcleod Ganj.
The lunch was attended by Speaker Khenpo Sonam Tenphel, Kalon Gyari Dolma, Kalon Norzin Dolma, and members of the Standing Committee and the Public Account Committee.
Welcoming the high-level delegation from Arunachal Pradesh, Speaker Khenpo Sonam Tenphel praised the Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh for his strong devotion to His Holiness the Dalai Lama and his unwavering support for the cause of Tibet. The Speaker expressed his gratitude and honor at receiving the distinguished guests.
Shri Pema Khandu, the Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh, shared his experience of an audience with His Holiness the Dalai Lama earlier today. He praised the Central Tibetan Administration for their dedicated efforts toward the Tibetan cause and highlighted the special bond between the people of Tibet and Arunachal Pradesh, rooted in shared religion and culture. Regarding the border between India and Tibet, particularly in Arunachal Pradesh, he mentioned his initiative to use the term ‘Indo-Tibetan border’ instead of ‘Sino-Indian border.’
Following the luncheon, the delegation visited the Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile, where they were briefed on its sessions, committees, and various initiatives. This visit concluded with an exchange of souvenirs and ceremonial scarves between the delegation from Arunachal Pradesh and the Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile.
